It's summer, and you're excused if you're watching some goofy TV. Msnbc.com staffers share our TV guilty pleasures in this story. Have any favorite shows you're ashamed to admit to?
I love watching Ghost Hunters on Sci-Fi....my kids got me into it. The first episode my husband and I watched with them we kept muttering to each other, "That was staged...that's just bad science" and halfway through the episode I whispered to him, "This may be a load of bunk but it's better than re-runs of Hannah Montana or Zoey101....or Highschool Musical for the 3,000th time" We're now regular viewers.
It's all about that pesky willing suspension fo disbelief thing.
Kojak seemed so real because he was based on a real person, who I had the honor of knowing. (Minus the lollipop.) The real man was even more amazing than his fictional counterpart, which is saying a lot. There is nothing quite like a good NYC crime drama.
Oh my do I have guilty pleasures in TV viewing. My worst is Maury Povich episodes for paternity. I am very ashamed of that one! And my newest is 90210 re-runs on Soap. Ever since I knew they were coming out with a new show, I had to see how it ended. I stopped watching in years before it originally stopped in 1999, so they are all like new shows to me. Sometimes I don't answer the phone when it's on and my husband calls, because I don't want to miss a minute..but SHHHH don't tell him that!
Okay, most of you probably won't even remember this show that aired back in the 70's. Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. I loved it so much I bought the DVD collection that recently became available. Top that!!!!
I don't usually watch much television, but recently I've become hooked on the Nickelodeon show iCarly, about a young teen who lives in Seattle with her older brother, and films a weekly webshow with two of her friends. The simple comedy and easily resolved conflicts never cease to make me chuckle, and although I feel like I've reverted back to the sixth grade after each episode, it puts a smile on my face. I've taken to watching it every day.
I love Ace of Cakes...wish I could be one of their friends so I could work there! My father taught me how to decorate cakes as I was growing up. I can make flowers, borders and frost a cake really well but I could never make the wonderful cakes that come out of that bakery! They are a awesome bunch of people! I am sooooo addicted to that show.
Gilligan's Island need I say more :)
I love Gilligans Island and the Backyardagans even tho 49 years old. Need I say more? lol
I'm a big fan of the World's Most Daring..., Speeders, and World's Most Amazing Videos on TruTV and Spike. They're more fun to watch than nearly any "reality show" out there.
I love my TIVO--it allows me to record shows I can watch when no one else is around to give me a hard time about it....Greatest American dog, Walker Texas Ranger, Sordid Lives, silly lifetime movies, Kyle XY, How clean is your house....all the best in thought provoking and high brow shows!
